Who is Simon Pole, the Cosmic Poet?

His mind corrupted by childhood exposure to horror movie matinees, but equally enthralled by the atmosphere of old churches, Simon Pole writes cosmic poetry from the location of Kingsville, Ontario. A graduate of Harvard University, Simon has continued his studies of what is hidden in the dark. Writing is also in his blood, being the great-great-grandson of early Canadian poet Susie Drury.

What is Cosmic Poetry?

Poetry ushers us into the presence of things greater than ourselves. Like ritual, what was formerly called religion, Poetry is a transition to the supernatural. That is the supra-natural, that which is ‘above’ our material selves. Whenever anyone says to you we must ‘rise above’, they are talking about Poetry.

So it is only fitting that all Poetry be in conscious orientation Cosmic. In doing so, we are only admitting its fundamental nature to ourselves, something obscured in our present age. If, following McLuhan, the medium is Poetry, the content should be Cosmic. The dimensions of course, are the Universe, but that should not be its essence. The content of the Universe is Man, who is himself cosmic in scope. His mind was made to look within himself, above, and below, and engage all the categories God has blessed and damned.

The only monster is that which does not fit. The only Monster is Man.
