Commemoration
Of that new wine he would not drink again,
Until our kingdom with goodness is set:
That which coming, but coming not yet,
Our table with love will be loaded then.
Each day I pray to remember you Lord,
Our kingdom before of honey and milk,
Where led us you free from Egyptian ilk,
Won by the efforts of Joshua’s sword.
O Lord, I recall, you endured what we,
On our daily cross both suffer and see:
Total-shared bondage to which you submit,
As we submit with the promise of old,
Made new by the meal where we also sit,
And you, dear Jesus, rise conqueror bold.
From the Like a Lamb collection.
