The Sign

The sign was that the sun was dim,
And all of nature mourned with him;
The final hours, forsaken, lost,
Into the realm of death he crossed,
As all we must, and so the sign
Occurs when orbits all align:
The seen eclipse, though in that land
It was the act of God’s free hand.
